In my way towards a healthier lifestyle I have decided to stop eating sugar and sweets – until Christmas. There is no way to not consume something sweet during Christmas – so I’m not even going to try. I’m eliminating most sugar from my diet. I will not go into any extremes, if there is a birthday of course I will have a slice of cake. Only one slice, not a full plate. This is a big step in the right direction – towards healthier and hopefully I will lose a few pounds on the way. This decision is based on several articles I read about the effects sugar has on or body.

There are many health benefits from skipping sugar and sweets.

You will have more energy – we all know that sugar is not good for our body.  The more sugar we consume the more our bodies have to work to deal with it. Eating sugar creates instability in your blood sugar levels which makes you want to eat more often to create more energy.

Less tiredness –  your body will to work so hard to balance your blood sugar levels. Instead your body resources can be used on more beneficial things like the work you are doing or exercise.

Your diet becomes more healthy – your body still needs the energy that it used to get from sugar. Therefore you will start craving for food that can give you similar effects – that’s fruit. Fruits contain fruit sugar that will keep your blood sugar level balanced. In consequence you will get better nutrition. You will also get rid of Candida wich is a yeast infection. Almost everybody in the Western world has Candida but probably doesn’t know it. It feeds on sugars and can have various effect on our health.

You save money – not only the money you used to spend on sweets but you also avoid having extra dental fees.

You will look better – your skin will look healthier, with better complexion. You might even lose weight. Sugar has no nutrients but your body stores it as fat. When you eliminate most sugar from your diet then automatically you eat less calories.

Lower  risk for type 2 diabetess – Since the blood sugar levels become more balanced once you stop eating sugar and sweets, the risk of developing diabetes lowers

Thank you, it was not easy to begin with. As long as I make sure to eat fruits on regular basis then I don’t have cravings for something sweet.

    Great article!

Eliminating sugar also helps significantly with women who have frequent UTI problems, headaches and sleep disorders.

Thanks, that is true and a good point. Consuming much sugar can lead to sleeping disorders among other things.
